Securing the World's Assets

The story of how Helios Engineering & Mechanical Group (HEMG) redefined industrial execution through disciplined digital control.

Established 2014

Company Story

HEMG — Helios Engineering & Mechanical Group — was built from the ground up by practitioners who spent their careers on the hardest industrial projects in the world: offshore platforms, nuclear facilities, pharmaceutical plants, petrochemical complexes, and refinery turnarounds across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

The founding team carried one shared, recurring frustration across every project they had worked on. The greatest risks were never caused by poor engineering design. They were caused by the gap between what the engineering specification demanded and what actually happened in the field during execution.

The Proof of Concept

Major Refinery Turnaround, India

The first HEMG implementation was a digital flange management system deployed on a major refinery turnaround in India. The outcome was immediate and measurable: 100% of critical joints verified to engineering specification, zero startup leaks, and a handover package that was auditor-ready within hours rather than weeks.

From that single proof of concept, HEMG has grown into a comprehensive mechanical integrity platform deployed across Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Power Generation, Offshore FPSO, Water & Desalination, Semiconductor, and Construction environments globally.

Today, HEMG operates from three hubs — India, United Kingdom, and UAE — serving plant owners, EPCs, and contractors across the complete mechanical asset lifecycle.

The Core Objective

Mission Statement

"To transform industrial execution into a disciplined, data-driven process that eliminates human error and guarantees mechanical integrity across the full asset lifecycle."

We believe the gap between an engineering specification and a verified execution record should be zero. Every bolt tightened, every weld made, every system tested — traceable, verifiable, and permanently recorded. We build the tools that close that gap.

The Industry Gap

Founding Background — Why HEMG Was Built

The industrial world has invested hundreds of billions in engineering design, simulation, and planning technology. Yet the execution layer — the physical work of assembling, welding, testing, and commissioning — has remained largely paper-based, manual, and fragmented for decades.

The HEMG founding team had seen these patterns repeated across two decades of field experience. The solution was not more training manuals or better spreadsheets. It was a purpose-built digital execution platform that enforced engineering logic, captured evidence automatically, and made compliance the path of least resistance for every person on site.

Documented Industry Consequences

60%

Over 60% of hydrocarbon leaks originate from flanged joints assembled without verified torque control. (ASME PCC-1 / ESA)

Weld

Weld repair rates of 5–15% are routinely accepted as industry normal, when digital control can achieve under 2%. (AWS Standards)

3-6w

Commissioning delays of 3–6 weeks on large projects driven primarily by documentation inconsistencies. (CII Findings)

Audit

Regulatory audit failures are disproportionately caused by documentation gaps rather than work quality. (Compliance Gap)

The Team

Leadership

Vivek Dhandapani

Founding Partner & Digital Transformation Architect

Vivek Dhandapani is a results-driven Digital Transformation Leader with 20 years of experience in enterprise technology, AI strategy, and product innovation across Oil & Gas, Construction, Pharmaceutical, and Industrial sectors. He is the architect of HEMG's digital platform — translating deep field knowledge of mechanical integrity into a product that is as rigorous in its engineering logic as it is practical for the industrial workforce that uses it.

His career spans the complete product lifecycle: from 0-to-1 platform development and architecture through to enterprise deployment, stakeholder management, and scaled commercial delivery. Prior to founding HEMG, Vivek held senior roles at OpenText Software GmbH (Germany), Accenture India, Capgemini, and TechnoVal Information Systems (Dubai), delivering multi-million-dollar digital transformation programmes for clients across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.

He has architected and deployed enterprise-grade OpenText and SAP platforms for the Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, and Government sectors — including programmes for Saudi Aramco-contractor ecosystems and major KSA industrial operators.

The Workforce First

Our Commitment to the Industrial Workforce

HEMG was designed from its first line of code with one non-negotiable principle: the platform must work for the professionals who do the work.

Industrial execution depends on the skill, precision, and expertise of field professionals — the pipe fitters assembling flanges in a refinery, the welding inspectors validating joints on an offshore platform, the commissioning engineers closing out punch lists under intense schedule pressure.

These are highly trained individuals whose expertise is the foundation of every safe and efficient industrial operation. HEMG honours that expertise by providing tools that match their professionalism.

Designed for Field Reality

PPE-Compatible UI

Simple scan-and-update workflows with large touch targets designed for gloved hands.

Offline Reliability

Full offline capability for remote sites and limited-connectivity industrial environments.

Immediate Feedback

Can this be used correctly, the first time, in PPE, under time pressure? Every screen is validated against this single criterion.

"The result is a platform that field professionals genuinely adopt — not one that is imposed on them. Because when the workforce that does the work has reliable, easy-to-use digital tools, the quality of every joint, every weld, and every test record is permanently elevated."
